How effective can an online breathing training be?
It largely depends on several factors:
- the group size (with 15 participants at once, it is difficult to provide enough individual attention, and there is usually limited opportunity to address personal questions)
- the instructor’s verbal skills (how experienced they are and how precisely they can explain each step, or guide participants through analogies)
- the system itself (whether there is an opportunity to ask questions and whether private communication is available)
- whether it includes continuous monitoring and reassessment
My background as a trainer and yoga instructor has required me to communicate instructions clearly and precisely. I know countless ways to explain a movement, which helps ensure proper execution. While the magic of in-person teaching and physical guidance is undeniable, the online format also offers many advantages. It is more flexible, time-efficient, and reduces the risk of infections (a particularly important factor since the pandemic). It is also ideal for participants with health conditions, more serious illnesses, or limited mobility.
If someone happens to catch a cold at the start of a course, there is no need to hesitate—they can comfortably join from home without risking infecting others.
The Buteyko breathing training I provide includes a 4-week coaching process. This means that each participant has access to a private platform where we communicate directly: we track measurement results, I assign breathing exercises, participants share their experiences, and they can ask questions at any time—which I answer daily.
This ensures (with proper cooperation) that individual effectiveness is maximized. If a problem or question arises, there is no need to wait until the next session a week later. I can immediately adjust the exercises or clarify any uncertainties. Because if someone feels unsure, they are less likely to practice—and without practice, results will not come.
I designed this system to be as effective as possible, ensuring that those who follow it can achieve their goals. I support participants throughout the course and, if needed, in the following months through continued coaching.
In both online and in-person formats, trust and a safe space for asking questions are essential. Many people (myself included in the past) may not fully understand something but hesitate to ask, assuming everyone else understands—or thinking they will review it later at home. However, when the brain does not fully understand something, it tends to get stuck there, making subsequent information harder to grasp.
Another important aspect: when we feel uncertain, we are more likely to procrastinate or not even start. That is why I provide multiple ways to ask questions. The private coaching platform is one such option during the 4-week period, where participants can ask even those questions they might not feel comfortable raising in a group setting.
In my system, participation is always preceded by a detailed preliminary questionnaire. This allows us to address individual problems and symptoms privately, rather than bringing them into the group setting. Everyone shares only what they feel comfortable with. I consider this a major advantage: I am fully informed and we discuss everything in detail on the private platform, yet participants are not required to share personal information with the group.
Is it possible to request an invoice for a health fund (private health insurance account)?
No, this is not possible, as the service does not qualify as a healthcare service.
Is it possible to request an invoice in a company’s name?
No, under the current KATA regulations, I can issue invoices only to private individuals.
In all cases, an electronic invoice is issued for payments made by private individuals and sent to the participant’s email address.
How much practice is required daily?
For adults, I usually recommend practicing 6 × 10 minutes per day, though this may vary individually.
For children, my recommendation is 3 × 10 minutes per day, which can also be adjusted based on individual needs.
Is any prior experience required to participate in Buteyko courses?
No, I teach everything from the basics. It is not a problem if you have previously worked with breathing techniques or practiced yogic breathing.
